Total skin electron treatment is a type of radiation therapy used to treat the entire skin surface. It uses low-energy electron beams, which only penetrate the skin. This spares surrounding tissue and organs from radiation. Our radiation oncologist will recommend this therapy for patients with skin lymphomas. s the name suggests, the entire surface of the skin is treated with radiation; however, only low-energy electrons are used to destroy cancer cells. Because electrons do not travel deep below the surface of the skin, underlying tissues and organs are usually unaffected by TSET.
